THE LOVE WE FOUND, by Jill Santopolo, is the follow-up to The Light We Lost. I found that THE LOVE WE FOUND can be read as a standalone book. Gabe has been gone for ten years when the story opens and Lucy is still talking to him and she has a great deal to say. A retrospective of Gabe's photojournalist work has been planned and as Lucy goes through his work she finds a slip of paper with an address on it that puts her on a plane to Rome to find an explanation. This is a trip that will change her life.
With flawless writing, the author brings to readers a beautifully told love story with roots in the past and present. Even though Lucy had married someone else, had children and then divorced, Gabe's essence has been ever-present. There hasn't been anyone who has inspired and touched her as he had. This changes when she meets Dr. Dax Armstrong. Finding she might have a chance at love again, Lucy and her ex-husband must first agree on a decision they must be unanimous on. And, it is a big one.
Powerfully conveyed, this story is sensitive, moving and memorable. Highly recommended.
The long-awaited follow-up to the Reese’s Book Club pick and New York Times bestselling global phenomenon The Light We Lost: a thrilling love story about the roles fate and choice play in shaping a life.
