Miranda is a driven, career-focused woman who has risen to the top of a prestigious fashion magazine. She’s completely dedicated to her job, pouring her heart and soul into every project, often staying at the office long after hours. Her work is her world — but that leaves little space for anything else. Especially her relationship with Tristan, her boyfriend of five years. Though she loves him, the cracks in their relationship have been forming for a while. They argue constantly, and the time they used to spend together has dwindled to almost nothing.
One evening, Tristan asks to meet her at a café in Madrid. Miranda, busy as always, thinks it’s just another mundane conversation, but Tristan breaks her heart instead. He tells her that they need to part ways. It’s sudden, and for Miranda, it’s completely unexpected. She’s left reeling, unable to comprehend how they’ve reached this point. She goes home, utterly shattered, convinced that losing him is the worst thing that has ever happened to her.
But when she wakes up the next morning, everything has changed.
Miranda finds herself back in time, to the exact moment when she first met Tristan. At first, she thinks it’s a dream, but soon the truth sinks in: she’s time traveling. The question then becomes: Should she try to fix things before they fall apart, using this second chance to make sure she doesn’t lose the love of her life? Or is this time-traveling opportunity a sign that she should walk away from the relationship entirely before it leads to even more heartbreak?
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Madrid, EVERYTHING I'LL SAY TO YOU TOMORROW by Elisabet Benavent, translated into English by Rosemary Peele, is a beautifully written exploration of love, self-discovery, and the complexities of life. The novel introduces us to mature, well-developed characters. While the first half of the book flows effortlessly, the second half begins to feel a bit predictable.
Beyond its romantic plot, the book delves into themes like balancing career and passion, cultivating self-love, and nurturing meaningful friendships. The story primarily unfolds from Miranda’s perspective, with a few chapters offering insights into Tristán’s point of view. While this offers some depth, I cannot help but wish for a few more chapters from his side to better understand his motivations and inner conflicts.
Overall, EVERYTHING I’LL SAY TO YOU TOMORROW is a fun and emotional read.
If you could and rewrite your memories, would you do it? International bestselling author Elísabet Benavent explores doomed love, memories, and regrets in this sensational contemporary romance full of witty humor, emotional catharsis, and a satisfying happy ending.
Fashion editor Miranda loves her work, and her high energy life in the hustle bustle of Madrid. Her boyfriend Tristan hates the fast pace, the noise and exhaust fumes, and wants only to get back to Galicia and the seaside, longing for kids and a white picket fence. As explosive as their mutual attraction is, and as deep their love, one of them is going to have to give up their dreams. Finally Tristan admits that even love isn't strong enough to overcome their fundamental differences. The breakup is a shock to Miranda, and the next day she wakes up in the past on the day they met, and every day after that on a different momentous day in their relationship. At first she's determined to avoid the heartbreak by stopping the relationship before it begins, but eventually she sees that she can rewrite the details of her past, but not the trajectory. So she sets out to do better, hoping that she can avoid the inevitable heartbreak, but she can't change who she really is and what she really wants.
