Give me all the humor, pizza, and coffee with a side of Dallas and Peabody solving the mysteries. These mysteries are never rocket science and you know Dallas is going to get the bad guy in the end but that's what I LOVE about these books. You can count on these novels to surprise you while making you laugh a bunch too.
This is the 59th in the series. If this is your first in this series, what are you doing with your life? You need to catch up! Although these books can be read as standalones, you won't know the back story of how Dallas and Peabody got to where they are now. In this book, we follow two women having a hen party for their bachelorette at a club called Down and Dirty. One of them is murdered quite senselessly and Dallas needs to figure out who and why. This one gets a bit personal for Dallas and if you've read the books you'll understand why.
Although, this got a bit boring in the middle. I thought the book took a bit too long to get to the suspect. However, I love Dallas' train of thought as she goes through all the possibilities. I did think it was someone that it didn't end up being. So there was definitely a twist in this one.
All in all, this was a solid read that offered all the humor and mystery that the other 58 books before it did. From this reader to you, I say invest in this series! It is well worth it.
Homicide Detective Eve Dallas hunts a killer who turns a wedding party into a murder scene in the latest novel by the #1 bestselling author, J.D. Robb.
On a hot August night, Lt. Eve Dallas and her husband, Roarke, speed through the streets of Manhattan to the Down and Dirty club, where a joyful, boisterous pre-wedding girls’ night out has turned into a murder scene. One of the brides lies in a pool of blood, garroted in a private room where she was preparing a surprise for her fiancée—two scrimped and saved-for tickets to Hawaii.
Despite the dozens of people present, useful witnesses are hard to come by. It all brings back some bad memories for Eve. In her uniform days, she’d suffered an assault in the very same room—but she’d been able to fight back and survive. She’d gotten justice. And now she needs to provide some for poor young Erin.
Eve knows that the level of violence and the apparent premeditation involved suggest a volatile mix of hidden, heated passion and ice-cold calculation. This is a crime that can be countered only by hard detective work and relentless dedication—and Eve will not stop until she finds the killer who destroyed this couple’s dreams before the honeymoon even began…
