Shelby Archer always loved the time she spent with her friends in Provincetown, but she never planned to make it home. They were and are very different women who thought they knew each other well. Best friends. After college Shelby broke up with her boyfriend, Justin, and moved to New York City. It was there that she realized her dream of becoming an author, or so she thought when her first book was published. A return to Provincetown for a book signing and then to temporarily manage her friend's book store gives Shelby reason to reevaluate her definition of success. A NOVEL SUMMER, by Jamie Brenner, is a heartwarming and meaningful story that embraces themes of friendship, community and the power of the family one makes. The characters are three-dimensional and have strong personalities. Even as they grapple with their own issues, their commitments to what they believe and to each other are noteworthy. Beautifully told, the narrative follows the characters as they find ways to preserve the strong bonds they once took for granted as they move into the next stages of their lives. Forgiveness, honesty, romance and second chances are key elements in this story.
I found A NOVEL STORY to be compelling and enjoyable. Highly recommended.
