Suspense

The Bishop family has owned the famous hotel Precipice for years.  The patriarch has recently died and his three daughters are scheduled to arrive at the property even though there is the threat of a hurricane. No matter because there is a Will to be read and to put it bluntly, the Bishop sisters want theirs. The hotel's chambermaid, nineteen-year-old Charley is worried that the family will sell the hotel and she desperately needs this job.  As it turns out, she has a great deal more to worry about than losing her job.  Her life might be in danger.

The cast of characters is unique and this might be an understatement.  The author has skillfully crafted a group of characters that are full of surprises and secrets.  The sister's relationships with one another are nothing short of dysfunctional. Thrown into the mix, amongst others, is an attorney with a shady background and an opportunistic husband/lover (depending on which sister one is talking about).  Much of the story is told in Charley's voice and she is witty and smart even though she is a bit of a pilferer.

When the death of one of this merry group begins to look like a possible murder, the story ramps up. While the storm rages, tensions grow, tempers flare and everyone becomes suspicious of everyone else. Who amongst them could be a murderer?

ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY, by Jamie Day, is a well-told story about a family no one wants to be part of. However, when it is all said and done they are still family and family bonds are strong.  I found this story to be witty, full of heart and a pleasure to read.  Highly recommended.

SUMMARY

The newest, riveting summer suspense by the bestselling author of THE BLOCK PARTY, Jamie Day.

Could this reunion be the death of them?

The Precipice is a legendary, family-owned hotel on the rocky coast of Maine. With the recent passing of their father, the Bishop sisters--Iris, Vicki, and Faith--have come for the weekend to claim it. But with a hurricane looming and each of the Bishop sisters harboring dangerous secrets, there's murder in the air-- and not everyone who checks into the Precipice will be checking out.

Each sister wants what is rightfully hers, and in the mix is the Precipe's nineteen-year-old chambermaid Charley Kelley: smart, resilient, older than her years, and in desperate straits.

The arrival of the Bishop sisters could spell disaster for Charley. Will they close the hotel? Fire her? Discover her habit of pilfering from guests? Or even worse, learn that she's using a guest room to hide a woman on the run.

With razor-sharp wit, heart, thrills, and twists, Jamie Day delivers a unique brand of SUMMERTIME SUSPENSE.
