Hannah Grace is back with DAYDREAM, Henry and Halle's love story. This is one title I've been seeing promoted everywhere on social media; just like the author's wildly popular books before this one Icebreaker and Wildfire. I haven't read those so this is a new to me author and these books revolve around hockey stars and their group of friends.
In DAYDREAM, Hockey Captain Henry falls for people pleaser, pretty nerd Halle. The book is set in California, at one of the UC campuses, where Henry and Halle are freshman college students. We see their relationship develop over a period of a whole semester late in the year, around 3-4 months. It is a big book clocking at 400+ pages. If I were to describe this story in brief it would be a young love's dream come true.
Henry and Halle go from friends to lovers, their relationship develops organically and it feels inevitable. Being so young they have a surprising depth and maturity in their characters. It comes across in how Henry makes Halle feel and helps her go from an introverted bookworm to someone with a loyal, thriving group of friends.
Halle becomes an anchor for Henry when he is overwhelmed with studies, too much socializing or loud noises. Her sister sharing similar aversions to Henry helps Halle to be sensitive and caring towards Henry's needs. That's how her people-pleasing too is addressed by Henry and her new friends. They help Halle with her confidence and her putting herself first and being her own person rather than stretching herself thin by helping her family and friends first.
You get to experience everything a person and a couple get to when they are in an intimate relationship for the first time. With all the time in the world, a rose-tinted view of love, arrogance and confidence that comes with being young. Henry and Halle make a world for themselves where there are friends who are their second family and it's all very heartwarming given their backgrounds.
Henry is the kind of boyfriend you will search for if you haven't one at the moment. And if you've been there and done that you'll wish you had someone like him when you were younger. Of course, you'll daydream when you read about the dates and experiences Halle and Henry create for each other.
So if you are in the mood for some college romance with lots of heart, spice, and warmth of friendships pick up a copy now.
The third in the New York Times bestselling Maple Hills series follows fan-favorite Henry and a bookish fellow student who come up with a plan to help them both overcome their respective challenges in a difficult year.
When his procrastination lands him in a difficult class with his least favorite professor, Henry Turner knows he’s going to have to work extra hard to survive his junior year of college. Enter Halle Jacobs, a fellow junior who finds herself befriended by Henry when he accidentally crashes her book club.
Halle may not have the romantic pursuits of her favorite fictional leads, but she’s an academic superstar, and as soon as she hears about Henry’s problems with his class reading material, she offers to help. Too bad being a private tutor isn’t exactly ideal given her own studies, job, book club, and the novel she’s trying to write. But new experiences are the key to beating her writer’s block, and Henry’s promising to be the one to give them to her.
