Lily knew she had to get away from her abusive boyfriend. An ad for a nanny led her to a Cornish estate. WI-FI and cell phone reception were spotty. Maybe Cornwall was far away enough for her to feel safe. At first, her employers, the Rowes, seem perfect. Lily soon learned appearances can be deceiving.
NANNY WANTED, by Lizzie Barber, is a story about secrets. Even the children Lilly has been hired to care for seem to know what to say and what not to reveal, especially about the former nanny. Laurie Rowe can switch moods with no warning. As for Charles, let it suffice to say he is a complex man. Their secrets have secrets. The house has a very dark history, which has carried over to the present. A high level of tension runs throughout the entire story. From the time Lily comes to the Cornish mansion, Lily senses something is off, but what?
The author has crafted an engrossing tale and has skillfully placed the protagonist into a totally unforeseen situation. Well-plotted and unpredictable, the story races to its surprising conclusion. I found NANNY WANTED to be a great domestic psychological thriller. Highly recommended.
A remote Cornish mansion. The perfect couple. And the deadly secrets that bind them.
When Lily finally leaves her toxic relationship, a job as a nanny at Kewney Manor seems like the perfect solution. There, she can cut herself off from her old life, and never have to see him again.
The Rowes seem like a model family, and Lily falls instantly in love with her new home. But she can’t help feeling that something isn’t quite right. Why will nobody tell her about the nanny who came before her? Where does Laurie go at night? And what does Charles really want?
As Lily becomes increasingly entangled in the Rowes’s lives, she realizes that the perfect family may not be all that they seem. And as much as she fears the past she is running from, perhaps the present is where the real danger lies . . .
