Women's Fiction Psychological

Perhaps most neighborhoods have a neighbor like Gladys. Some might call her a snoop or a busybody. She is well known to the local police as her calls reporting this, that or the other are legendary. However, Logan a tattooed ex-con working as a delivery man is probably not as much a stereotype as Gladys. What does this unlikely pair have in common? Call it a gut feeling or perhaps instinct, but they both sense there is something wrong behind the door of one particular house on Hogarth Street. Something terribly wrong. A devoted mother, Katherine West can usually be seen walking her five-year-old twins to school. But not this morning. And why did her husband pull out of their driveway at high speed this morning? Why won't she open the door so Logan can deliver her new computer?
THE FAMILY ACROSS THE STREET by Nicole Trope tells the story of one family's life imploding. Their very survival may well depend on the actions of one stranger and one neighbor. Will they get involved or will they tell themselves to mind their own business?
The author has crafted a disturbing tale. With an unpredictable plot and a shocking revelation, the narrative is a riveting drama with palpable horror. There are moments of emotional and physical violence. Profound and gripping, this book is almost impossible to put down as it races towards its conclusion. As far as psychological thrillers go, this is one of the best I have ever read. Highly recommended.

SUMMARY

In this gripping psychological thriller, a new family moves onto Hogarth Street and shows their neighbors that sometimes the most perfect families are hiding the most terrible secrets.

Everybody wants to live on Hogarth Street, the pretty, tree-lined avenue with its white houses. The new family, the Wests, are a perfect fit. Katherine and John seem so in love and their gorgeous five-year-old twins race screeching around their beautiful emerald-green lawn.

But today, they won’t invite you in when you knock, they brush away offers to babysit and the children haven't been seen.

Every family has secrets, and on the hottest day of the year, the truth is about to come out. As a tragedy unfolds behind closed doors, the dawn chorus is split by the wail of sirens. And one by one the families who tried so hard to welcome the Wests begin to realize: Hogarth Street will never be the same again.
