Thriller Psychological

Nora did all the right things.  She changed her last name, changed cities, and became a gifted surgeon, something her serial killer father wasn't.  Now, twenty-six years after he was arrested and convicted of murdering young women, two of Nora's former patients have been murdered and their bodies were mutilated in the same way manner her father was known for. She becomes a suspect.  Nora is positive no one in her world knows about her father.  She is wrong.  Someone is setting her up and they are doing a good job of it.  But who?

Author Freida McFadden has crafted a fascinating protagonist in Nora.  From the start, readers are not really sure what she is capable of.  There is something unnerving about her and the more we learn about her past suspicions arise.  As evidence linking her to the crimes appear, even more questions pop up.  Did the apple fall far from the tree?

THE LOCKED DOOR by Freida McFadden is a gripping psychological thriller. Well crafted and packed with suspense and tension, the narrative takes several twists and turns.  Just when Nora thinks she knows who the murderer is, she finds she is once again wrong.  As for the ending, I never saw it coming.  I found THE LOCKED DOOR to be an exciting story.  Highly recommended.

SUMMARY

Some doors are locked for a reason…

While eleven-year-old Nora Davis was up in her bedroom doing homework, she had no idea her father was killing women in the basement.

Until the day the police arrived at their front door.

Decades later, Nora’s father is spending his life behind bars, and Nora is a successful surgeon with a quiet, solitary existence. Nobody knows her father was a notorious serial killer. And she intends to keep it that way.

Then Nora discovers one of her young female patients has been murdered. In the same unique and horrific manner that her father used to kill his victims.

Somebody knows who Nora is. Somebody wants her to take the fall for this unthinkable crime. But she’s not a killer like her father. The police can’t pin anything on her.

As long as they don’t look in her basement.
