"Wes and Ivy’s romance was like a train wreck I could not tear my eyes off from!"

Suspense Psychological

Audiobook narrated by Karissa Vacker

In A TWISTED LOVE STORY, Samantha Downing takes readers on a fun ride about one of the most dysfunctional couples I’ve ever read about. Wes and Ivy met in college, and their romance has been a whirlwind ever since. Until it’s not, and then it is again, until it’s not, and then it is again… and so it goes.

I feel like Samantha Downing needs a new genre created just for her. While there might be a light mystery in her books and they keep me on the edge of my seat, Mystery/Thriller seems like a misnomer. She needs something like "Messy and Wicked," because that’s what her books are. They are so entertaining, and her unique voice just adds to the enjoyment.

Now let’s get to Ivy and Wes. Never has a couple been so dysfunctional - emphasis on the fun, but you have to be able to table the fact that they are toxic and obviously should not exist in real life. (But let’s be honest - somewhere out there, they probably do.) This is a couple that overanalyzes everything, and each toxic overture is viewed as a way the other says "I love you." They have the most sordid past, and for being so addicted to each other, at times carelessly flit in and out of each other’s lives. But when one call to the police throws their relationship under the microscope, everything changes. A TWISTED LOVE STORY kept me enthralled. It clipped along at a fast pace, and I could not wait to see what Ivy or Wes were going to do next. They were like a train wreck that I couldn’t look away from. Whatever was going to happen was going to be twisted and oftentimes hilarious, spurring the other into motion. Ivy and Wes reacted to each other without thinking, making this book unpredictable and so easy to eat up.

With two Samantha Downing books under my belt, I have come to discover that I love her distinct writing voice! A TWISTED LOVE STORY was a messy story with a messy ending that could not have been wrapped up any other way. And I loved every second of it!

Narration: I’ve listened to Karissa Vacker’s narration several times. She always does a fantastic job, and A TWISTED LOVE STORY was no exception. She speaks clearly, and it’s obvious she understands the character’s motivations. She does a wonderful job with male voices as well as female ones, and I am always on the lookout for more from her! If you pick up this book, audio is the way to go!

SUMMARY

From the bestselling author of My Lovely Wife comes a reckless, delicious thriller that gives a whole new meaning to the dangers of modern dating.

Wes and Ivy are madly in love. They've never felt anything like it. It's the type of romance people write stories about.

But what kind of story?

When it's good, it's great. Flowers. Grand gestures. Deep meaningful conversations where the whole world disappears.

When it's bad, it's really bad. Vengeful fights. Damaged property. Arrest warrants.

But their vicious cycle of catastrophic breakups and head-over-heels reconnections needs to end fast. Because suddenly, Wes and Ivy have a common enemy--and she's a detective.

There's something Wes and Ivy never talk about--in good times or bad. The night of their worst breakup, when one of them took things too far, and someone ended up dead.

If they can stick together, they can survive anything--even the tightening net of a police investigation.

Because one more breakup might just be their last…
