Even with fifty-six books in the series, J.D. Robb shows no signs of stopping with the In Death series. In ENCORE IN DEATH, a well-known man dies of cyanide poisoning. I can’t recall the last time a victim died due to poisoning in this series so it was a welcome notion. As you can expect, Robb weaves an intricate storyline that kept me on my toes.
I enjoyed the way Robb was able to keep me in the dark for most of the novel before revealing the identity of the killer. Not only was this perfectly executed but the ideas in her stories as well as her characters remain fresh and unique.
Robb has always had a skill at creating unusual victims and suspects, so it’s always a blast to read about them. I especially enjoyed this cast as the theme was carried out well, adding flavor to the mysterious plot. As one of my favorite mystery series, I always have high hopes for J.D. Robb and so far, she never fails to entertain me. ENCORE IN DEATH definitely deserves a standing ovation!
