At first, Nina thought her husband Jake didn't come home because of the argument they had. But, when he stays gone she became worried. Nina's friend, Lily confesses to her husband Christian that she had had an encounter with Jake and that he might be hurt. Nina and the police will be looking for Jake, but Christian will do everything to protect Lily. As the story progresses, things get more and more complicated. Where is Jake?
Well plotted, JUST THE NICEST COUPLE by Mary Kubica moves very quickly. Jake's disappearance casts a huge shadow over Nina's, Lily's, and Christian's lives. Perfectly injected into the story are revelations from the characters that change the trajectory of the storyline and this is what makes the story gripping. Readers don't know what to expect as shocking secrets are revealed. The characters are all flawed, some more than others, but are any of them responsible for Jake's disappearance?
What I found intriguing about Mary Kubica's latest masterfully crafted thriller is that every time I thought I knew who had done what, I found I was wrong. The conclusion was a total surprise. Highly recommended.
