Over eight years ago, bad boy Zach Corbett had had enough of the constant fighting with his mother and walked out of the house that was suffocating him. Now he's returning to face his demons. His first surprise is Fran Dolton. When he left, she was a pudgy, take-no-bull girl. Now she's a beautiful woman, but doesn't realize it. His second surprise is at the door of his former home -- the daughter he never knew he had.
Fran has always been the person to save the day. She did it by caring for her parents until they died. Now she's taken over reconstruction of the gardens at Bliss House. And she's giving Zack a place to stay, as well as a job in return for room and board, until he can straighten out his past and figure out his future.
The last thing either wants or needs is to fall in love. Zack's job in Virginia is demanding and unpredictable. Fran still doesn't trust men after being so badly used in college, but she does know she wants to become a wife and mother. They do fall in love, but it takes a near-tragedy for Zack to realize he can't let Fran go.
This is the fourth story in the Something Blue Series. Zack and Fran seem like total opposites, but the chemistry between them is spectacular. I was pleased with the outcome, even though it left me a little sad. Ms. McLinn has done a marvelous job creating the stories in this series.
