Romance Series

Over eight years ago, bad boy Zach Corbett had had enough of the constant fighting with his mother and walked out of the house that was suffocating him. Now he's returning to face his demons. His first surprise is Fran Dolton. When he left, she was a pudgy, take-no-bull girl. Now she's a beautiful woman, but doesn't realize it. His second surprise is at the door of his former home -- the daughter he never knew he had.

Fran has always been the person to save the day. She did it by caring for her parents until they died. Now she's taken over reconstruction of the gardens at Bliss House. And she's giving Zack a place to stay, as well as a job in return for room and board, until he can straighten out his past and figure out his future.

The last thing either wants or needs is to fall in love. Zack's job in Virginia is demanding and unpredictable. Fran still doesn't trust men after being so badly used in college, but she does know she wants to become a wife and mother. They do fall in love, but it takes a near-tragedy for Zack to realize he can't let Fran go.

This is the fourth story in the Something Blue Series. Zack and Fran seem like total opposites, but the chemistry between them is spectacular. I was pleased with the outcome, even though it left me a little sad. Ms. McLinn has done a marvelous job creating the stories in this series.

SUMMARY

The prodigal son of Tobias, Wisconsinโ€™s premier family is coming home, and the town will never be the same. Zach Corbett grew up as a charming rebel with startling blue eyes, who shrugged off responsibilities, letting others โ€“ especially his older brother Steve โ€“ pick up the slack. Now heโ€™s going to put the hard-earned maturity heโ€™s gained in eight-and-a-half years away to the ultimate test โ€“ a bigger test than even he knows. Zachโ€™s expectations of his homecoming are demolished when a girl named Nell answers the door at his childhood home and announces that she is his daughter, and his brother is raising her as his own child. Fran Dalton specializes in coming to the rescue, from nursing her father to restoring the jungle-like gardens around Bliss House as part of a community project to renovate the old estate. Sheโ€™s vowed the gardens will be her very last rescue project. But when Zach walks back into Tobias, Fran sees a situation she canโ€™t turn her back on. Too many hearts are at stake. Nellโ€™s, Steve and his wifeโ€™s, Zachโ€™s. And maybe even her own.
