It all began with a gnome placed carefully and lovingly in the front yard of Amelia Marsh and her children's new home. Ooops! By-law violation!! Carla, the property management representative, makes this and much more clear to Amelia. However, this is not just any gnome. Amelia's children made it for her and after the divorce, this was the only thing they asked to be moved to their new home. This is of no importance to Carla. The gnome must go. Sadly, Kyle, the hunky HOA president, can't help her. By-laws are by-laws and must be enforced. Amelia is no push over, and Gnomegate is born. Will Amelia be any match for Carla?
In this absolutely delightful story, readers become acquainted with group of realistic characters. Amelia, now a single parent, grapples with very real issues which include bullying, whether it be from children or adults. Nothing means more to her than her children and that is proven over and over. There is no room in her life for romance. Kyle, although attracted to Amelia and her children, has vowed never to get involved with a woman with children again. Can they remain resolute? The dialogue is both witty and serious in all the right places.
Packed with themes of family, romance, and friendship WITH NEIGHBORS LIKE THIS is a pleasure to read. Highly recommended.
