WHILE WE WERE DATING by Jasmine Guillory is book 6 in The Wedding Date series of interconnected stand-alone contemporary romance novels. I have read and enjoyed all of the books in this series. I absolutely love this author. And this was one of my most anticipated reads of the summer.
Can this book be read as a standalone? This book is Ben's story; Ben is Theo's brother (Theo's story was told in THE WEDDING PARTY and he was also a side character in THE WEDDING DATE). Theo is in this book a fair amount. Maddie is also in this book a bit. And Nik and Carlos (from THE PROPOSAL) have a small part in this book. If that doesn't bother you, then I think that this book can totally be read and enjoyed without having read the previous books.
WHILE WE WERE DATING was such a fun book. Ben works at a San Francisco ad agency. I loved this job for him. Because he is charming and funny, it was enjoyable watching him do his job.
Anna is a very famous actress who has more going on--she's very complex and interesting. I loved how the author portrayed her friendship with her best friend, Penny.
The flirty banter is top-notch in this book and overall, it was a sexy read. Probably sexier than you might expect from the illustrated cover. There is also a focus on mental health n this book that is important to highlight. Anna suffers from anxiety and Ben made her feel seen and safe. I loved that he was open to talking about it and knew what she needed. And, at points when he didn't know what he needed, Ben asked her instead of making assumptions.
The glitz and glamour of Hollywood, movie-making, and celebrity life is always a fun setting. WHILE WE WERE DATING by Jasmine Guillory was an awesome mix of fun, steam, and all the feels. It's my favorite book in the series!
Two people realize that it’s no longer an act when they veer off-script in this sizzling romantic comedy by New York Times bestselling author Jasmine Guillory.
Ben Stephens has never bothered with serious relationships. He has plenty of casual dates to keep him busy, family drama he’s trying to ignore and his advertising job to focus on. When Ben lands a huge ad campaign featuring movie star, Anna Gardiner, however, it’s hard to keep it purely professional. Anna is not just gorgeous and sexy, she’s also down to earth and considerate, and he can’t help flirting a little…
Anna Gardiner is on a mission: to make herself a household name, and this ad campaign will be a great distraction while she waits to hear if she’s booked her next movie. However, she didn’t expect Ben Stephens to be her biggest distraction. She knows mixing business with pleasure never works out, but why not indulge in a harmless flirtation?
But their light-hearted banter takes a turn for the serious when Ben helps Anna in a family emergency, and they reveal truths about themselves to each other, truths they’ve barely shared with those closest to them.
When the opportunity comes to turn their real-life fling into something more for the Hollywood spotlight, will Ben be content to play the background role in Anna’s life and leave when the cameras stop rolling? Or could he be the leading man she needs to craft their own Hollywood ending?
