Kate McGuire is settling in in her new life in Coral Cay, Florida. As co-owner of The Cookie House, she is fulfilling her dream as a pastry chef in a less intense atmosphere than she had in New York. When her dear friend, Desiree, calls her and says she is planning a destination wedding in Coral Cay, Kate is thrilled to take on the job of helping her friend and baking the delicious treats for the wedding. This may be a little more than Kate can handle since a television crew has also descended upon the town to film a new reality show and has asked Kate to teach a cookie baking lesson. Undeterred, Kate steps up to the plate and enlists the help of friends and neighbors to make Desiree feel right at home. When the day of the wedding arrives, everything seems to have fallen perfectly in place for the happy couple. Until the groom doesn’t show up. Knowing something terrible must have happened to Judson, Desiree is determined to find him. Kate and Desiree, along with flower store owner Maxi, the local detective, and handsome new veterinarian, dig into what could have possibly happened to the groom. Was it intentional or was it foul play? With reality TV stars complicating island life, the groom’s spiteful children, and his famous ex-girlfriend all involved, will they be able to find him…dead or alive?
I absolutely adore this series! Not only is the setting picture-perfect, but the characters and their development throughout this series are perfectly paced. I loved the plot in A TALE OF TWO COOKIES. It was deliciously different than your average cozy mystery. Instead of stumbling upon a dead body, we’re on the hunt for a missing groom. The subplots of the marine aspect and the reality show were also interesting and flowed easily in connection with the main plot. This is book three in the Cookie House Mysteries, but it can be read as a standalone. I would highly recommend starting at book one, just because this series is so fun. A TALE OF TWO COOKIES is the perfect book to escape in, and having it set in sunny Florida is icing on the cookie.
In A Tale of Two Cookies, a cozy mystery from Eve Calder, it’s nothing but sugar and spice at The Cookie House, but elsewhere on Coral Cay everything isn’t so nice.
Pastry chef Kate McGuire is loving life on the laid-back island of Coral Cay, Florida. As junior partner in a bakery renowned for luscious desserts—especially her cookies—life is pretty sweet. So when an old friend arrives and announces a spur-of-the-moment beach wedding, that’s just the icing on the wedding cake.
But the groom vanishes right as a television crew descends on the town to film a hot, new realty show. Is there a connection? Is her friend Desiree somehow involved? Or did groom Judson simply get cold feet? The bride and groom were paired better than warm cookies and cold milk, so Kate doesn’t buy it.
As the show’s cast runs amok on the island and the investigation into Judson’s disappearance heats up, Kate and her pal Maxi, along with town dog Oliver, will brave the rambunctious world of reality TV and a wedding weekend gone awry, in an all-out effort to find the missing groom.
