The Pearl brings us the third installment of The Godwicks series. In true TIffany Reisz fashion, this book is sexy as can be, but there’s just something different about the tone with this one when paired with Arthur’s charm. When Charlie, his younger brother, gets himself into hot water yet again, it’s up to Arthur to get him out of it. But he has no idea what’s going to be required of him.Β

Part of Arthur’s charm was how much he loved his family, including the older brother he was bailing out yet again. And it was nice to learn more about the Godwicks in this installment. Each installment shows us more about them, and I find their family dynamic so interesting, so I love reading it. I also love the way Arthur discovers what he enjoys in his sex life, and how he struggles with it a bit before accepting it. I thought it was realistic of him to have an inner struggle at first before giving in to his desires, especially as more of his past comes to light. He was a character I truly loved, and he was the highlight of the book for me.

Unfortunately, I had a hard time connecting with our heroine, Regan. It’s a tough sell for me to be able to enjoy reading about a bitter heroine. I have to be really sold on why she’s so bitter, and in this case, I just wasn’t. It made it really hard for me to root for her. I also really missed the paranormal tone that the previous books in this series had. It was introduced into the story pretty quickly in those installments, and I wish we had more of that here. It makes the series feel a bit disjointed to me.

THE PEARL introduced me to a new Godwick to love, and I am hoping the series doesn’t stop here. Charlie may have been a chump in this book, but if anyone could redeem him, it would be Tiffany Reisz. And it's a story I'd be thrilled to read!
