In the middle of the night, Effie is dropped off at her aunts’ house in Brooklyn. Her mother recently passed away, and Effie’s aunt Selemine, her mother’s much older stepsister, is listed as her guardian. Effie immediately realizes there’s something different about Selemine and Carlotta, but she is charmed by their unusual living habits. They work out of their house, perform acupuncture, sell tinctures and natural remedies, and they just so happen to be witches.
Effie herself is also a witch--a discovery she makes when her fingers and toes start glowing, signifying her powers appearing. Effie quickly realizes being a witch will be anything but boring and figuring out what she’s capable of will take time and effort. Not to mention, she still has to go to school and she’s trying to make new friends.
But when a well-known pop star comes to the aunts for a remedy for a beauty issue that won’t go away ahead of a big performance, Effie has to be true to herself to save the day. . .
