Fantasy Urban | Young Adult Fantasy

RAGE AND RUIN is book two in the Harbinger Trilogy by Jennifer L. Armentrout and she continues her exciting story about a half-human and half-angel. Along with her gargoyle protector, Trinity and Zane seem to be against the odds as the Harbinger approaches.

Trinity acts much like Armentrout’s other heroines. She’s feisty, sarcastic, and kickass. I think readers will have an easy time liking her character. She’s one of those heroines that you can’t help but root for.

In this book, there’s a bit more details of Zane thrown in, which I think is so important for his character. The relationship between Trinity and Zane is really about being partners, so although Trinity is used to doing things on her own and in her own way, they have to figure out a way to work together.

RAGE AND RUIN was easy-to-read and reminds me a bit of the Dark Artifices series by Cassandra Clare, so if you enjoyed that series, then you may enjoy this one as well. I think Armentrout has definitely found a formula that fits her writing style when it comes to writing paranormal romances and I can’t wait to read more!

SUMMARY

Book 2 of The Harbinger contemporary fantasy series features angels, demons and gargoyles in a battle to save humanity. For fans of Cassandra Clare, Gena Showalter and Holly Black.

A half human, half angel and her bonded gargoyle protector must work with demons to stop the apocalypse while avoiding falling in love. The Harbinger is coming...but who or what is it? All of humankind may fall if Trinity and Zayne can't win the race against time as dark forces gather...and Lucifer himself may walk the earth once more.

Tensions rise and Zayne and Trinity must stay close together and patrol the D.C. streets at night, seeking signs of the Harbinger, an entity that is killing Wardens and demons with no seeming rhyme or reason. Forbidden to be with each other, they fight their feelings and turn to unusual sources for help--the demon Roth and his cohorts. But as more deaths pile on and they uncover a sinister plot involving the local high school and endangering someone dear to Zayne, Trin realizes she is being led...herded...played for some unknown end. As anger builds and feelings spiral out of control, it becomes clear that rage may be the ruin of them all.
