Kathleen Paulsen has managed to overcome the problems between her and Marcus. They had butted heads more than once over her interference in his investigations. They were seriously dating and life was good. Now, another investigation has cropped up involving the death of the grandfather of one Kathleen's favorite library volunteers.

The two brothers haven't seen each other since Leo's wife ran off with his brother, Victor. Victor is trying to reconcile with Leo claiming that he is dying. No one in town likes Victor while Leo is beloved by everyone. When Leo is found dead by Kathleen, Marcus will take over the investigation. Will this come between Kathleen and Marcus?

Ms. Kelly has written a series that I adore with lots of great characters and two adorable cats. Owen and Hercules are brothers but totally different in personality. Each has his own mystical power and manages to outfox their owner on a regular basis. They add a lot of humor to the stories and do their own bit to help Kathleen resolve the mystery and identify the killer.
