In a world where nothing is as it seems Jennifer Estep takes you on a fascinating adventure in her new young adult novel, SPARTAN HEART. The first book in this urban fantasy book series that is a spin-off of her original Mythos Academy Series. SPARTAN HEART can easily be read a standalone but once you step into this intriguing world you will want to go back and read the Mythos Academy Series. Estep has really outdone herself in creating a world that is filled with countless types of warriors from Spartan.
This series is a mix of The Clash of the Titans and 300, but with a young adult theme making for an interesting combination that is just to capture your interest from the first page.
The characters are well rounded and very developed with captivating backstories that help to create life like characters that are realistic. Some characters are loved while others are complete outcasts. The setting is unlike any other as Estep writes a vividly descriptive picture making it easy to close your eyes and see exactly what the characters are seeing making it the ideal backdrop for a story that is sure to pull you in.
SPARTAN HEART is a heart pounding and thought provoking read that will have you impatiently turning pages trying to figure out what will happen next. A book that was hard to put down, but easy to get lost in. I enjoyed reading this young adult novel that has all the makings of a great read. A story that is both relatable, yet untouchable with action and drama around every corner. If you are looking for a world that is easy to escape to with action and adventure, then SPARTAN HEART is the novel for you.
New school year, same old problems . . .
At Mythos Academy, everyone knows exactly who I am: Rory
Forseti, Spartan girl and the daughter of Reapers.
Even though I fought alongside my cousin Gwen Frost to
save the mythological world from Loki and his evil Reapers
of Chaos, Iβm still the most hated girl at the academy
because of all the horrible things my parents did. I had
hoped that this school year would be different, but the
other kids just wonβt let me forget about my parents.
But something strange is going on at the Colorado academy.
First, I run into a Viking guy who dislikes me more than
most. Then I notice some odd artifacts in the Library of
Antiquities. And worst of all, I start hearing rumors
about a new group of Reapers who can summon mythological
monsters.
I might be the most hated girl at Mythos Academy, but Iβm
also the only one who can save it . . .
