PROMISE TO DEFEND by Diana Gardin is the second book in the Rescue Ops series and can easily be read as a standalone novel. I did not read the first book but I found this book has a quick recap at the beginning that will catch you up to speed. I did find this book to be a quick read and I read it in one sitting. This book is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat with suspense.

Gardin's writing style is flawless as she weaves this story together with intriguing characters, action-packed suspense, and a touch of steamy romantic chemistry that is sure to warm you up on even the coldest of nights. I enjoyed reading the stubbornness and swoon worthy dialogue the two main characters share as they struggle to stay safe all while fighting feelings that are beyond their control. Both main characters have a past that still haunts them, making their current situation even more dramatic. Ronin is the picture perfect sexy man who is confident and knows exactly what he wants. He will stop at nothing if he is determined. After his wife was murdered he feels he has nothing to lose. Olive is the quintessential stubborn woman that refuses to rely or depend on anyone but herself. Well, that is until Ronin comes into the picture.

As you read from page to page you will not know what to expect next with each page holding a combination of suspense and romance. A perfect book for anyone who loves a romantic suspense novel that is sure to leave you wanting more. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series and do plan on reading the first one.
