SAVING IT by Monica Murphy is a fun fast-paced young adult novel full of romance and loads of drama.
Their whole lives, Joshua and Eden have been best friends. They spend every second they can together and know almost everything there is to know about each other. After spending so much time together, they can read each other's emotions. Always knowing what the other one is thinking. People assume that all this closeness means that they are a couple, but they are not. They are constantly having to tell people that they are just friends. What happens when even their closest of friends think that there is more to the relationship then they are admitting? Are they fooling themselves into thinking that friends are all they will ever be?
What happens when Joshua starts looking for a girlfriend? Well he turns to his best friend, Eden. He needs her help to find him a girlfriend so that he can lose his V-card before college. When they start to search for the right girl things do not go has planned. Eden is reluctant and does not want to help Joshua. She feels like his plan makes her sound like his pimp. So, Joshua must find a way to change her mind.
As the drama of finding the right girl continues, somewhere along the way Joshua realizes that the girl he loves has always been right there with him. This is where the story takes a turn with loads of drama and fun filled exchanges. They soon begin to realize that they are more than friends. Now they must decide if it is worth taking a chance on a relationship even though they could possibly lose their best friend in the process.
Murphy has written a list of characters that are realistic and lifelike. They face real problems that many teenagers face and deal with them in the same way. Joshua and Eden are well developed with backstories that mesh together making them the ideal high school sweethearts. SAVING IT has a fun and outstanding group of secondary characters that help in the overall story making everything come together in this remarkable read.
I found this to be a cute romantic read that is full of drama and laughs with an ending that is picture perfect. You will fall in love with this funny, sweet, and addictive read from page one. SAVING IT does not disappoint.
Eden: Josh Evans and I have been best friends
forever. He knows all my secrets, and I know all of his. So
when he randomly asks me to help him lose his virginity, I
sort of flip out. Thatβs a question that sends your mind to
places youβve seriously never considered before. Like, you
know. Having sex. With your best friend. Except Josh doesnβt
want to have sex with meβhe wants me to help him find a
girl. A nice girl whoβs funny and smart and cute. Except he
already knows a girl just like that...
Josh: Eden Sumner is my best friend. So of course
sheβd be the person to help me find my perfect match, so I
can drop my V card before I head off to college. Except the
more we search, the more I realize that maybe the right girl
has been by my side all along. I donβt need Edenβs help in
finding me a girl to love. Iβm pretty sure Iβm already in
love with Eden. But now she thinks Iβm only after one
thing...with anyone but her.
Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book is what
happens when American Pie meets Friends with Benefits. It
contains two best friends, plenty of angst, and lots and
lots of sex talk. Reading this might have you looking at
your best friend in a different light!
Josh pulls the dressing room curtain back and walks out,
holding his arms out at his sides. Heβs wearing a black
button down shirt and the dark khaki pants and umβ¦
He looks.
So.
Hot.
βIβm totally overdressed.β
βNo, you lookβ¦β I shake my head, at a loss for words. Which
is stupid. Itβs just Josh.
Itβs.
Just.
Josh.
βI look what? Bad?β Heβs frowning, staring down at his
chest, running his fingers over the shirt buttons.
βYou definitely donβt look bad.β My voice is firm. My
thoughts are going haywire. I think about the pact we made,
how crazy I thought he was for bringing it up.
But hey. Maybe thereβs something to this βletβs lose our
virginity to each otherβ deal.
Nah. Thatβs crazy talk.
He lifts his head, his gaze meeting mine. βSo I lookβ¦good?β
βYou look great.β Understatement. He looks hot like fire.
But I canβt tell him that. βYou need a haircut.β I say this
to break the tension, because there is so much freaking
tension right now. Am I the only one whoβs experiencing it?
Or does he feel it, too?
βYeah. I know I do.β He runs a hand through his hair,
messing it up so itβs a riotous mass on top of his head. My
gaze lingers, and Iβm tempted to run my fingers through his
thick hair and straighten it out.
Oh. My. God. Stop thinking like this!
βGo try on something else,β I tell him, waving my hands and
shooing him away. He needs to go. Get behind that curtain
and hide for a few minutes so I can gather my thoughts. βTry
on one of the flannel shirts and the jeans.β
βOkay.β He sends me a questioning look before he slips back
into the dressing room.
I breathe out a sigh of relief, my shoulders slumping. What
just happened? I donβt like feeling this way toward Josh.
Thinking heβs hot, being attracted to him. It makes
meβ¦uncomfortable?
Well, it should make me uncomfortable.
βYour boyfriend is cute.β
Glancing over my shoulder, I watch the sales associate who
greeted us when we first walked into the store approach.
Sheβs super cute with a bohemian vibe. Long wavy golden hair
almost to her butt, a black choker around her neck, sheβs
wearing a flower print, flowing dress that swirls around her
ankles when she walks.
βHeβs not my boyfriend,β I tell her.
Her eyebrows go up. βYou couldβve fooled me.β
Iβm scowling. βWhat do you mean?β
βYou two looked totally into each other.β
βYeah.β I laugh, but it feels forced. βNo. Weβre just friends.β
βUh huh.β The knowing smile she sends my way tells me she
doesnβt believe a word Iβm saying. Whatever. βLet me know if
you need any new sizes or whatever, okay?β
