Young Adult Fantasy

ZERO REPEAT FOREVER by G.S. Prendergast is the first book in the Nahx Invasions series. I found this book to be a very addictive read that draws you in and very slowly progresses to an ending you will not expect. The only thing I did not like about this book is that it left things set up for the next book, a real cliff hanger. Now, even though the pace is slow it is a really good read that is told by two different points of view, Raven a human girl and a boy with no name who is an alien. I kind of get a 5th wave vibe in a sense, but with a twist. The two try to survive in a post invasion world as they try to figure out their true allegiances. Along the way the author creates unique and odd obstacles with very detailed descriptions that are easy to visualize. The pace the author chose to write this novel lets you see the gradual deterioration of a world. This also lets the characters develop and grow into their relationship. Even without words two people can communicate. The setting is written so vividly that it seems real. It's the perfect setting for a world of uncertainties where two people alike yet different try to find their way. Can they survive or will they become enemies in order to make it in all the unknowns? I found this book to be action packed, full of mystery, and relatable characters. I cannot wait until the next book in this series comes out because I really want to know what happens with Raven and Eighth. Overall, an outstanding read for anyone for loves a good young adult science fiction novel. I look forward to reading more from this author.
