THE SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS by Anne Corlett is probably one
of the most
entertaining books that I have read so far this year. I
read this book from cover to cover in two sittings
because I simply could not put it down. I was so drawn
into this book that I had to know what was going on. I
experienced so many different emotions while reading this
book from crying one minute to laughing the next.
THE SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS is about Jamie who is on a
remote planet. She is trapped
there alone when the human race is wiped out before her
very eyes. The virus spread so slow that the scope of the
disaster was not noticed until it was too late to
quarantine. Now, Jamie must stand strong and face her
fears. She has to find a way to move forward and not give
in to the gloom and despair that the planet has become. A
cell phone that is useless only reminds her of a promise
she made what seems so long ago. A promise to meet a
loved one in Northumberland should an apocalypse occur.
She must travel through the sky among the stars in a
unreliable ship with a group on survivors that are each
struggling with their own past.
THE SPACE BETWEEN THE STARS is full of
hope, love, despair, and the willingness to move forward
in the face of becoming lost in a world that no longer
exists. Corlett has a way of writing that truly draws you
in from the first line on the first page and holds your
attention until the very end leaving you wanting more,
hoping for another book. The setting works extremely well
with the plot line and seem to mesh together to create a
unforgettable read that you will definitely want to read
again. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys
a good science fiction novel.
When the world ends, where will you go?In a breathtakingly vivid and emotionally gripping debut
novel, one woman must confront the emptiness in the
universe—and in her own heart—when a devastating virus
reduces most of humanity to dust and memories.
All Jamie Allenby ever wanted was space. Even though she
wasn’t forced to emigrate from Earth, she willingly left the
overpopulated, claustrophobic planet. And when a long
relationship devolved into silence and suffocating sadness,
she found work on a frontier world on the edges of
civilization. Then the virus hit...
Now Jamie finds herself dreadfully alone, with all that’s
left of the dead. Until a garbled message from Earth gives
her hope that someone from her past might still be alive.
Soon Jamie finds other survivors, and their ragtag group
will travel through the vast reaches of space, drawn to the
promise of a new beginning on Earth. But their dream will
pit them against those desperately clinging to the old ways.
And Jamie’s own journey home will help her close the
distance between who she has become and who she is meant to
be...
