This suspense story wastes no time in getting started. Assistant District Attorney Madison Callaghan is attacked out of the blue and a sinister threat uttered. Only, when aid arrives, and poor Maddy awakens in hospital, she has lost her memory. CHRISTMAS AMNESIA continues at breakneck pace as Maddy teams up with Officer Noah Sinclair of the Milwaukee PD and tries to evade the criminal gang that does not want her to testify. The gang doesn't know she can't recall her evidence. She can't even think of her computer passwords.
I enjoyed the way the two have to learn to rely on each other, as sometimes they are in a cabin on a snowy mountainside, and at other times they know they may be followed through streets. My favorite scene however sees Noah and Maddy liberating a boat and taking off down Lake Michigan at night, from a starting point north of Chicago. I can imagine the bitter cold on the open water at a wintry time of year.
While this is third in the Callahan Confidential series, I am sure a reader new to author Laura Scott will have no trouble settling in to characters and locations. The confusion is all Maddy's, due to that inconvenient case of CHRISTMAS AMNESIA. This romantic suspense story has a slight inspirational touch and is suitable for adults or teens - provided they like excitement.
