MATING NEEDS by Milly Taiden is the second book in the A.L.F.A. book series. While this is the second book in this series, it can be read as a standalone novel. I did not read the first book in this series before I read this one. I did find this to be a fast read and finished it in one sitting. The overall story is an interesting one but did not hold up by the end of the book.
At the beginning, it was a promising read with a story that had a good plot and characters that were prefect to carry it out. I just feel that when I got to the middle of the novel, I lost interest and the ending disappointed me. This would be a great read if the writing meshed the setting, characters, plot, and details together more. The characters are easy to love, relate to, and seem realistic in many ways. They are well rounded and have a depth to them that the story needs.
The setting is different but works. The plot or story line just does not hold up. MATING NEEDS needs more drama, depth, and details. The chemistry between the characters is lacking the heat that is needed to make this story over the top. I feel like it just fell flat. I really wanted to love MATING NEEDS but feel it is really missing that extra something that could make it great. I do plan to read the first book (ELEMENTAL MATING) in hopes that it is a better read.
