Romance Historical

Graeme Parr, Lord Montclair was blackmailed into marrying an American heiress, Abigail Price, by her father. He sacrificed his love to save his family estate and father's debts. He believed that Abigail knew about her father manipulation and wanted a title. So he vowed their marriage would be in name only and on their wedding night he scorned her and left her. Abigail has been a pawn in her fathers schemes all her life. When she met the handsome, aristocratic Graeme, she thought that he was rescuing her from her overbearing father. But when Graeme left her at their wedding night with harsh words, she fled home to New York with a broken heart. Ten years later Abigail returns as an alluring and confident women to London. When Graeme learns Abigail is back in England, he wants her to return to New York. As a paragon of perfection he doesn't want his wife to make any scandal and brings shame to his family. He doesn't trust himself around the beautiful and tempting woman she became. Graeme needs to know why she is back and what she wants from him. This is the first novel that I read by Candace Camp and I must say her writing is absolutely wonderful. I couldn't put the book down. Graeme tried to fight his attraction but she was determined to tempt him and gives her what she wants. I loved her strength and how she recovered after he broke her heart and became a successful business woman. The storyline was entertaining and unpredictable with plenty of actions. A PERFECT GENTLEMAN has a mystery, great secondary characters and steamy love scene. It is one of those books that I want to read again. Thank you Candace Camp!

SUMMARY

From New York Times bestselling author Candace Camp comes a delicious and steamy marriage-of-convenience historical romance in A Perfect Gentleman. Forced to marry an American heiress to save his family, Graeme Parr, Earl of Montclair, vowed their marriage would be in name only. Abigail Price thought handsome, aristocratic Graeme was her knight in shining armor, rescuing her from her overbearing father. But when she was spurned by her husband on their wedding night, Abigail fled home to New York. Now, years later, Abigail has returned. But this sophisticated, alluring woman is not the drab girl Graeme remembers. Appalled by her bold American ways but drawn to her beauty, Graeme follows her on a merry chase through London’s elegant ballrooms to its dockside taverns—why is his wife back? What could she want of him now? Torn between desire and suspicion, Graeme fears that Abby, like her unprincipled father, has a devious plan to ruin him. But is Abigail’s true desire Graeme’s destruction...or winning his love at last?
