An ages old curse is suddenly broken one night causing
all the Queens to shift into their dragon form including
an unfortunate Viola Pierce, an unknown breed, three-
headed dragon queen. For one thing, her mother absolutely
loathes dragons and another; she shifted in a place owned
by a greedy dragon. Stuck there, the dragon wants to use
her for breeding because over the centuries there have
been only a handful of powerful dragon queens in lieu of
thousands of dragons.
Sergei hates Queens due to his past with them but when he
is invited by Viola's captor to breed her with him, he
feels something he did not think was ever possible. Along
with other dragons, he helps Viola escape; planning on
leaving her once she is safe. But the new Queen knows no
rules of the court and mistakenly names him her
protector; leaving him no choice but to be bonded for
life along with a growing attraction neither expected.
But with the unleashing of the queens everywhere, a
threat arises from all sides. It is up to Sergei to help
Viola navigate the ruthless court, overcome his deep
dislike and mistrust of queens as a rule and help her
make her place in the world. But will this yarn obsessed
dragon queen become ruthless like others or will her
humanity become her weakness or will the challenge only
make her stronger?
THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT had an interesting start but the voice
soon began to sound annoying amidst things moving too
fast at times to comprehend. One minute she is human,
next she is a dragon with three heads each with her own
personality, then she is a captive and soon after able to
transform and get rescued etc. It felt at times that Ms.
Schimdt tried to keep the pace fast and cram too much
information, character development and plot into all this
amidst the action without too many details. This does not
mean THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT was boring or confusing but more
like not properly fleshed out.
I also had a pretty hard time connecting with the lead,
Viola. Even though there are times she is funny, shows a
backbone and spunk, yet she did not do it for me despite
a strong supporting cast and hero, Sergei. I did like the
bad guys in this story more than the leads though and if
I do pick up the next book, it would be to find out what
happens to them next. Overall THE QUEEN'S FLIGHT is a
light read, at times funny, filled with loads of non-stop
action, thrills and suspense for those who are able to
connect with the characters. So while this book did not
work for me, it might be just what you are looking for.
