"An entertaining Regency tale with an American twist"

Fresh Fiction Review

Lady Bridget's Diary

Romance Historical

Lady Bridget Cavendish and her family have arrived in London to take their place in society, having inherited one of England's most respected dukedoms. But they will soon discover that being an American amongst the ton will not be easy, with rigid gentlemen, such as Lord Darcy, irritated with their very presence. Recording everything in her diary, Lady Bridget tries to find her way through the rules and etiquette expected of an English belle, and details her most scandalous secrets, and episodes in her journal.

Lord Darcy is the epitome of the perfect English gentleman— rigid, stern, wealthy, titled, and impossibly proper in every aspect of his life. So he is shocked and disturbed when he finds himself confronted with his new American neighbours. Lady Bridget is definitely not the English bride he needs, but yet he cannot help but fall under her spell. But when Lady Bridget's diary disappears, can he help her avoid scandal and condemnation? Or will it be too late?

LADY BRIDGET'S DIARY by Maya Rodale is the first novel in the Keeping Up with the Cavendishes series, and I cannot wait for the next instalment. Bridget is my favourite character as she is full of wit and charm, and I found myself hoping she wouldn't change too much to fit into London society. It was a pleasure to watch Lord Darcy slowly thaw and allow Bridget to breathe new life into him. With twists and turns, and an alternative look at the Regency world, LADY BRIDGET'S DIARY by Maya Rodale is an engrossing tale, and I highly recommend it.

SUMMARY

In the first novel of Maya Rodale's stunning new series, an American heiress must learn to navigate London society and an infuriatingly irresistible rake . . .

Lord Darcy is the quintessential Englishman: wealthy, titled, impossibly proper, and horrified that a pack of Americans has inherited one of England's most respected dukedoms. But his manners, his infamous self-restraint, and his better judgment fly out the window when he finds himself with the maddening American girl next door.

Lady Bridget Cavendish has grand—but thwarted—plans to become a Perfect Lady and take the haute ton by storm. In her diary, Bridget records her disastrous attempts to assimilate into London high society, her adoration of the handsome rogue next door, her disdain for the Dreadful Lord Darcy, and some truly scandalous secrets that could ruin them all.

It was loathing at first sight for Lady Bridget and Lord Darcy. But their paths keep crossing . . . and somehow involve kissing. When Lady Bridget's diary goes missing, both Darcy and Bridget must decide what matters most of all—a sterling reputation or a perfectly imperfect love.
