Romance Historical

AN AMERICAN IN SCOTLAND, the third book in the Maclain series by Karen Ranney, is a beautifully written tale of deceit, danger, and passion. The story starts with Rose traveling to Scotland to sell cotton to the Scottish branch of Maclain's family. She desperately needs to convince Duncan Maclain to purchase her cotton. Since she doesn't know the Scottish family, she hides her true identity and doesn't correct them when they assume she is the widow of their American cousin. Duncan Maclain's goal has been to save his inherited mill and his workers, while supporting his family. He doesn't have time for adventures or love, but one look at the beautiful Rose and he decides to take a risk and travel with her during the war to America even though he is determined to resist her beauty and the simmering attraction. One kiss shows him that he loses his mind around Rose. So what happens when the truth comes to light, can Rose and Duncan put away their pride and discovers their true feeling? Karen Ranney is a talented author, and her stories keeps you enthralled and fascinated. Her heroines are stubborn, headstrong, and spirited, and even though they may deceive, you will love them. Her heroes are adorable, strong and gentlemen. Her villain are...well there are words for her villains. AN AMERICAN IN SCOTLAND is a wonderful Scottish tale of two stubborn people with pride and love for their family. Rose is one of those heroines who puts herself in danger to protect her family and slaves, and Duncan puts himself in danger because of Rose, who has the kindest heart. AN AMERICAN IN SCOTLAND is a story of danger, secrets, lies and passion with great plot. I highly recommend this Scottish romance.
