fast, I didn't blink. Winter has been long enough and the
book looks like spring, with an author new to me to

romance.
Lara Callaway works as a nanny in London, but
when she finds the truth about her cheating rat boyfriend
she walks out and asks to stay with her employers. They're
heading off on holiday, but she's been with them for six
months so they unquestioningly hand over the keys to the
fine townhouse. She's also got her own holiday trip booked,
a Mediterranean cruise, and she decides to go without the
rat. That night however a pal of her employers, who has an
arrangement that he can stay in their place if he needs to,
arrives in the dark and the panicked Lara clocks him with a
statuette. Fine mess for the police to sort out!
Reuben Tyler is a sports agent, used to hopping on planes,
not used to pretty girls hitting him over the head. Maybe
it's because she manages children, but once they get
talking, Lara takes control of the situation and the
handsome guy speedily. Pity she can't take back control of
her life. Reuben silently decides that not only are they
shopping in Harrods, but Lara is going to enjoy the holiday
cruise of a lifetime. He's over-stressed and needs a break.
I enjoyed the way Reuben not only is self-deprecating
but cheerily disparages his athlete clients, saying they
are like kids, rather than bragging about their fame and
fees. There is something of the child in the sweetshop
about the way Lara is tempted with clothing she can't
afford. We know this is a fantasy romance story, like
picturing yourself winning the lottery. Luckily Reuben is
actually a decent guy, because the girl could wind up in a
lot of trouble. Don't misunderstand - Reuben's after the
same thing as just about every other man. But he's not
going to kidnap the lady or anything, just have a fun and
harmless fling. He thinks.
I learnt a lavender fizz cocktail is made of
champagne, lavender syrup and raspberry puree; as drunk in
Monte Carlo. Tour the sunny cities with Scarlet Wilson's
