HARD AND FAST is the second book in the Fortis series about a group of covert ops, cyber-surveillance experts who the wealthy call when their assets are threatened. This is a former government group with military training who knows how to get the job done. This elite group works well together in solving the case.
Lucas Johnson is a technical genius who is lethal when threatened. He feels he has everything under control until he meets the engineer they are hired to protect and discovers she is the sexy woman he met earlier. Alex Cotts is a brilliant engineer who has designed an engine that has never been invented before. Working in a male dominated industry she has always tried to blend in and hide her femininity. She is used to working on her own and is not happy with the security detail. Lucas wants to keep a professional relationship even though he is very much attracted to Alex. Once Lucas and Alex are in close proximity it becomes impossible to avoid the sexual chemistry and keep a distance between them. Along with the sexual tension they also are dealing with real threats from hackers and those who want to destroy the engine designed by Alex.
HARD AND FAST is my first time reading anything by Raven Scott, and I really enjoyed it. I like how two brilliant individuals with strong personalities and opinions interacts with each other. Lucas questions his professional standards when he becomes involved with Alex, and when Alex ignores specific instructions things get a little dicey. HARD AND FAST shows what can happen when a personal relationship develops from a professional setting. Lucas and Alex have to decide if they can work around their circumstances.
