BRING THE HEAT is another great read in the Sugarland Blue series. Jo Davis continues to write fast paced novels filled with plenty of suspense and heat. Any novels about sexy men in uniforms gets my vote. BRING THE HEAT is about loss, an opportunity for love again and being afraid to try again. It also opens the door to coming to terms with your sexual preference for one person.
Sugarland Police Captain Austin Rainey suffers a great loss when his ex-wife is murdered along with his unborn son. Because of the contention between him and his ex-wife Austin finds himself as a suspect. This loss sends Austin into a dark spiral where he comes close to losing his life. Medical examiner Laura Eden along with Austin's partner helps save his life and pull him back from the darkness that nearly overtakes him. Laura has always had feelings for Austin and will do whatever she can for him. It soon becomes obvious that someone is after Austin in an act of revenge with the intention and destroying everyone that means anything to him.
Working close together makes it hard to deny the attraction between them so they finally give in and do they ever BRING THE HEAT! But along with this heat comes the threats. The closer they become puts Laura's life in jeopardy. Some surprising news puts Austin in a panic that may end their relationship when it just started. Austin and his detectives do what they do best -- work relentlessly to find the person behind the murders.
If BRING THE HEAT is your first book in the Sugarland Blue series, I absolutely recommend the other books about the firefighters as well as the police department. They are individual stories that are fast paced, full of intrigue, with plenty of heat.
