In Regency London, Maggie Delamere has fought hard to get where she is. Having been seduced by a member of the ton when she was younger, Maggie soon found herself abandoned and disowned by her family. But now she is finally living her life the way she always wanted - writing successful plays for the theatre that has become her family, her own bitter experience lending itself to her craft. But the life Maggie has battled to achieve is threatened because she can no longer find the words she needs to write, and with the board threatening to replace her, Maggie may lose everything she holds dear. When salvation offers itself to her in the form of Cameron Chalton, the Viscount of Marwood, will Maggie be able to overcome her opinions of the aristocracy to take the lifeline he offers?
Cameron understands he has a reputation as a notorious rake, and normally he revels in it. Never wanting to get married and produce an heir, the theatre, and particularly the plays of the elusive Mrs. Delamere, provide Cameron with the emotions and happiness that are sadly lacking in his life. The more Cameron gets to know the spirited Maggie, he hungers for her company as well as her touch, and has no qualms in coming to her rescue when she needs him. But as scorching hot passion envelops them both, will their hearts be able to survive the blaze?
SCANDAL TAKES THE STAGE by Eva Leigh is the second novel of The Wicked Quills of London series, and I am completely enthralled by this magnificent tale. I instantly cared about Maggie who had suffered so much, but had the strength to take charge and reach her goals. Spirited and determined, it was a joy to discover Maggie's vulnerable side when she realises that Cameron is not your typical, unsavoury aristocrat. Cameron is the ultimate hero - dashing, funny, intelligent and enlightened, at a time when many of his fellow lords were anything but. And I loved those scenes where we truly feel his emotions and fears. With plenty of wit, scorching ardour, and the magic of the theatre world in Regency England, SCANDAL TAKES THE STAGE by Eva Leigh is the perfect book for romance fans everywhere.
Together they may create a scandal worthy of the stage, but can their love last after the final curtain falls
