In SUMMER AT THE SHORE, Ryan Butler has left his army career due to simmering
frustrations and the lure of good money to work at Double Shield, a private
military contractor. Yet a year and half have gone by and Ryan's still restless and
in need of a long break. He heads to his hometown, the small island of Seashell
Bay, that is full of friends and neighbors who are more like family.
Morgan Merrifield is trying hard to save her family's
business, the Bed & Breakfast, left to her and her
sister after their father's death. She has put her teaching
career on hold in order to help her sister, Sabrina, who has personal anxieties
and a disability
that makes running an inn alone impossible.
Unfortunately, the inn is in a bad condition and needs lots
of repairs. Morgan is in desperate need of money and help to
fix the inn, so when she sees Ryan returning to
island, she offers him a free room in return for handyman work.
Now Morgan and Ryan are under the same roof, Morgan's long-time
crush flares into desire, and Ryan is hoping for a life of
hot summer nights.
SUMMER AT THE SHORE is the second book in the Seashell Bay series
and can be read as a stand-alone novel. V.S. SYKES did a
great job creating an image of Seashell Bay with strong
characters. It is a heartwarming contemporary romance that
stirs emotions and keeps you entertained through the whole
story.
JUST A SUMMER FLING?
Morgan Merrifield sacrificed her teaching career to
try
to save her
family's bed-and-breakfast and care for her younger
sister. She can't let
herself get distracted by Ryan Butler. After all, the
rugged ex-Special
Forces soldier is only in Seashell Bay for the
summer.
But her longtime
crush soon flares into real desire-and with one
irresistible kiss, she's
swept away.
Ryan values his freedom. As much as he wants Morgan,
he's not ready to
settle down with anyone, much less in sleepy Seashell
Bay. But his code of
honor doesn't allow him to leave a woman in distress-
and
she's in desperate
need of help to fix the inn. It only takes one day
working under the same
roof and Ryan is already hoping for a lifetime of hot
summer nights . . .
