HIS TO TAKE is Book 9 in the Wicked Lovers series, but it can be read as a standalone. This story covers NSA Agent Joaquin Munoz and Bailey Benson. If this is your first book in this series be aware it's about the BDSM lifestyle and some very unconventional families.
I love this series and all the characters. Joaquin's friend has been murdered while investigating a case which leads him to Bailey. In order to save Bailey, Joaquin kidnaps her and hides her in a BDSM Club. Imagine leading a basically innocent lifestyle and all of a sudden you are seeing things you have never experienced but find yourself drawn to.
Meeting Joaquin and members of the club causes Bailey to relive memories she thought were just dreams. Imagine how traumatic it can be to realize your life was not what you thought it was and to come face to face with the horrors from your childhood. Joaquin also comes to terms with how he never dealt with a childhood loss. Hiding in the BDSM club, Joaquin and Bailey discover a lifestyle they both desire and find they like, and pursue it to the fullest.
Shayla Black writes a great series with plenty of heat. This story is about reconnecting with family after purposely distancing yourself from them, and how when you need them, they will be there no matter what.
The Doms and their Subs from previous books are as entertaining as ever. If you're looking for suspense with some scorching heat added in, this is a series to read. It provides everything and then some.
HIS TO TAKE shows the results of what happens when unresolved grief is not dealt with and how it can influence relationships. This a well-developed story with a great storyline.
