I have enjoyed Christine Feehan's books for years now and
her Leopard novels are some of my favorite books. CAT'S
LAIR gives us the story of Ridley and Cat. When the two
meet the attraction cannot be denied. Cat has had a
traumatic past and is in hiding. She hopes that this time
she will be free and never have to return to the sadistic
man who terrorized her in the past. Cat may feel drawn to
Ridley but she is determined not to risk his safety and
act on those feelings, but Ridley is not so easily pushed
away. He has secrets of his own and he must decide if he
will keep them or share them with Cat. He knows that
there is something more than just a spark between them
and he aims to prove it to Cat. He can and he always
will keep her safe, even if it means trusting Cat with
the knowledge of his true identity and mission. Can he
trust Cat with his real name and reason he's there,
or will she hate him for it? Will his trust in Cat be
his death, or will she be his savior?
I enjoyed coming back to the world of Feehan's
leopards. Once Eli comes to the forefront with Cat and
stops hiding behind the façade of Ridley, all bets are
off. Eli is a totally different man than the easy going
Ridley persona he has hidden behind. He is a very
dominant man and he needs Cat and her submission. Cat is
a strong woman who has finally found a place for herself
and made it on her own, if only she can stay under the
radar from the man in her past. Unfortunately, the past is not
ready to stay where it should.
Cat is a good woman and she has endured so much in her
life yet she has survived and is always ready to fight
for freedom. Eli is a good man, although he may be bull headed at
times, but it is because of his love for Cat and his
wanting her safe. He knows she needs to figure
out things and to learn how to handle and
defend herself. Eli will always give Cat what she needs
and wants, no matter what. As dominant as Eli is he loves
Cat and the two work well together.
Cat and Eli are a great couple and watching their
attraction turn into something more made for a great
read. Neither of them knows how to handle a relationship
and I enjoyed seeing the two work through everything. Feehan does a good
job of mixing the action and the
romance together. Their story is an intense read that
will have you glued to the pages. This is one hot story
that pulls you in and does not let go until the very end.
