John, the Earl of Wrexham, is a war hero who is passionate about politics and making a difference for those who need a voice. But he is also a father to ten year old Prescott, an adventurous, spirited boy who desperately needs a mother. John has resigned himself to finding a bride but is adamant that his future wife must be intelligent. Passion and love play no part in his search, much to the dismay of his sister. Prescott has other ideas of what he needs in a mother and has plenty of tricks up his sleeve to get what he wants.
Olivia Sloane is everything her mother and society dislikes - opinionated, outspoken, and intelligent. Having no interest in getting married, Olivia is quite happy with the life she has built for herself, but she is willing to attend balls, if it will help her two younger sisters find love. But life for Olivia changes in so many ways when she meets the Earl of Wrexham, because she finds in him a kindred spirit buried beneath his controlled demeanour, even if they do snap at each other sometimes. When John requests her help with a speech, it is not long before their intense connection explodes into passion. With secret identities, misunderstandings, childish pranks, politics and kidnapping, is there any hope of John and Olivia carving out a future together? Or is their love just too scandalous to survive?
SCANDALOUSLY YOURS by Cara Elliott effortlessly transported me back to Regency England, and introduced me to characters that I fell hopelessly in love with. John is intelligent, handsome and caring, but he is floundering with regards to his son and fears he is making many mistakes with him.
I adore Olivia and her sisters. Headstrong, independent and spirited, Olivia goes after what she wants, and is proud of her intelligence. But she also has a softer, more vulnerable side which is so endearing. I found myself wishing that John would unlock this side of her.
With plenty of adventure, danger, and sizzling romance, SCANDALOUSLY YOURS by Cara Elliott truly gripped me from the beginning, and I could not put it down. I cannot wait to find out what happens next for the Sloane sisters in the next Hellions of High Street novels.
