Salvatore "Falcon" Russo races across the base as he
watches the Communications and Electronics building at
Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan go up in flames. He
catches Lieutenant Cassandra Walker as she staggers out of
the building. This is yet another attack on the US
military's secure network. Cassie has just been assigned
to
this airfield and Sal has tried to keep his distance. They
had a relationship four years ago that ended very badly.
But this interaction stirs emotions he thought were long
dead, and not all of them were good.
As the attack on the base continues, their commanding
officer is shot and killed. A SEAL team is brought in to
assist Sal and the Raptor team in finding the person or
persons responsible for all the attacks on their
communications. Cassie had been brought in from the DIA
(Defense Intelligence Agency) as well to help protect the
military's cyber security. But as they all begin working
together, no one is sure who they can trust. There's a lot
of cloak and dagger stuff going on between the SEAL team
and the Raptor team, and they're not sure they can even
trust their commanding officers. And is Cassie holding
secrets that none of them know?
Ronie Kendig brings us another inspirational military
thriller in her Quiet Professionals series that
moves at
break-neck speed. I just could not read it fast enough.
There are so many twists and turns in the plot that you
need a road map to keep up. Ms. Kendig masterfully weaves
several subplots together to bring closure at the end, but
what a ride in getting there! There are a plethora of
characters, both main and secondary, and there is a list
in
the front of the novel to help you keep them sorted out.
There is also a list of military terms and acronyms to
keep
you on point. It's hard to tell the good guys from the
bad.
Are they the Chinese, the South Koreans, the Afghanis or
is
it our very own CIA?
FALCON is a story about business,
politics and free enterprise. It's a story about
surrendering things to God that we have no control over
and
can't change anyway; about accepting God's plan for our
life and not trying to make our own plan. And of course
there is a little romance in the wind . . . this is Sal
and
Cassie's story, and it's very complicated.
Special Forces operator Salvatore “Falcon” Russo vowed to
never again speak to or trust Lieutenant Cassandra Walker
after a tragedy four years ago. But as Raptor closes in on
the cyber terrorists responsible for killing two of their
own, Sal must put his life—and the lives of his teammates—
in
her hands.
Despite his anger, Cassie is ill-prepared for his
resistance
and the fallout when she must protect the one asset who
can
end the attacks. As allies become enemies and hostiles
become unlikely partners, Raptor fights for its very
existence.
