Jacob Kelly is at home with his wife and children when Brian Vanderhall arrives at his door. Jacob and Brian used to work together on the New Jersey Supercollider and haven't seen each other in years. Brian has come to Jacob for help, he says he being followed and fears for his life. The things Brian shows Jacob scare him and make him question all he knows to be scientifically true. Brian is scared and his fear is real, when he leaves abruptly Jacob knows he must find out more.

Jacob soon finds himself accused of Brian's murder and most of his family missing. Only he and his daughter Alex remain and they are now in hiding.
