Miss Georgiana Blakelow is content with her spinster lifestyle, living with her younger siblings and ageing Aunt, on their country estate called Thorncote. But appearances can be deceptive. Thornton is falling apart at the seams, and has a new owner in the form of Robert Holkham, Earl of Marcham. And Georgiana is most definitely not what she appears to be. Having a scandalous past, she has constructed this new image to protect both herself and her remaining family. But she was not prepared for Robert or the feelings he inspires.
Robert Holkham has a notorious reputation as a rake of the highest order, but he is tiring of this lifestyle. Wanting to avoid any more scandal, find love and beget an heir, he finds himself the centre of attention of many match making mamas. Strangely drawn to Georgiana, he yearns to be around her and is determined to have her as his wife. But with shocking revelations, lies, and an interfering family, will Georgiana and Robert ever be free to be themselves, and find a future together?
THE BLUESTOCKING AND THE RAKE by Norma Darcy is a complicated Regency romance with many twists and turns, and unexpected occurrences. I enjoyed the character of Robert the most, as he is so self assured, and self aware of both his good qualities and his flaws. Unfortunately the plot of THE BLUESTOCKING AND THE RAKE is very detailed, but it seemed rushed in some areas, and drawn out in others, and the story just did not flow naturally for me.
