Fresh Fiction Review

Stolen

Months after Nat and Wes say goodbye on the shores of the Blue, Nat is learning how to control and use her new powers. She is a drakon ryder, she and her drakon is the last of their kind. Learning that the fire within her is a part of who she is. With the help of her new friend Faix, she is learning to release the drakon to use in her fight of all that is wrong with the gray world. When Nat gets a distressing call from her friend and sylph, she and Faix rush to her aid. Still heartbroken over losing Nat, Wess is racing cars on a New Vegas racetrack while his team is scattered and lost. Three of them disappearing without a trace. When long awaited word comes in that Wes's sister Eliza has been located, the remaining team heads out to El Dorado in search of her. Only Wes's luck has run out and he along with his team are captured. Now being forced to work for the military, searching for pirates, which leads him directly to Nat and her new friend Faix. When Nat loses her dragon she and Wes are reunited and it soon becomes obvious that both their quests are leading them in the same direction, directly into the dangerous cauldron of what has created their frozen world from the beginning. When Wes finds his long lost sister Eliza, is she the one that even needs saving? Husband and Wife duo, Michael Johnston and Melissa de la Cruz team up for the Heart of Dread series. I have been a fan of Melissa de la Cruz since her Blue Bloods novels, so I was excited to see a totally new series from her. Although I did not read the first book in the series, Frozen, I was able to follow along with the story line. The story line keeps the reader entertained and wondering how Wes is going to get his team of their next endeavor. Authors de la Cruz and Johnston leave off this series with a cliffhanger that will surely be another epic adventure in the next book of this series.
