THE DRAGON CONSPIRACY is the second book in the SPI Files series. The SPI is on high alert when a show featuring seven historic gems is on display at the Metropolitan. There are multiple SPI agents at the opening including Mackenna Fraser, the seer for the SPI and her partner, Ian.
Despite all the security, the stones known as the Dragons Eggs are stolen by a trio of harpies who are awakened from a kind of stasis. Their theft of the stones also leads the SPI to the identity of a previously unknown gem mage, Ben Sadler is a diamond appraiser with a previously undocumented talent.
Ian and Mackenna barely get Ben back to SPI headquarters for evaluation of his talent because one of the harpies destroys the SUV in an attempt to take Ben. When Ben is later kidnapped, the plot becomes even more complicated.
Mackenna, Ian, and their boss, Vivienne Sagadraco, will need all their wits to protect the humans from this latest threat.
Ms. Shearin is a fabulous writer who draws the reader into her world. THE DRAGON CONSPIRACY is no exception. Even writing this review makes me want to read the book again. Reading a Shearin book is a sure fire way to become immersed in a world where humans and mythological creatures live together. The readers will be thrown into a chaotic situation which will keep all their attention focused on the story.
