Mystery Amateur Sleuth

Piper can't get into the excitement flying around Cloverdale about the Italian soccer team coming to town. But she won't be passing up the opportunity to be part of the events. When the soccer team arrives, not everyone is excited to see Raffaele Conti, the team manager. Conti spent a year in Cloverdale in high school and managed to make more than a few enemies. One of them is Piper's dill supplier, Gerald Standley. Standley is also one of the biggest supporter of the Cloverdale All Stars. When Conti is found dead, Piper is asked by several people to help find the killer. Afraid of losing the fresh dill her provides and believing in Gerald's innocence, Piper sets out to find the truth. The more she learns about Conti, the clearer it is why someone wanted him dead. He was a despicable character who left people damaged in his wake. The identity of the killer is a surprise and leaves the readers a little sad as they learn the motive. Fans will love the recipes as well as the mystery.

SUMMARY

From the author of The Pickled Piper comes another Pickled and Preserved Mystery... Piper Lamb knows how to make fruits and vegetables keep for months. Unfortunately, it’s the people around her who are expiring too soon… After her fiancé left her, Piper came to Cloverdale to rebuild her life and open up her shop, Piper’s Picklings, to sell pickles and preserves. When her ex decides to drop in for a visit—just as things are heating up between her and a local Christmas tree farmer—Piper finds herself in a jam. But there are other visitors to worry about… An Italian soccer team is set to play the Cloverdale All- Stars in an exhibition game. Their manager, Raffaele Conti, was a bitter rival of Piper’s dill supplier, local farmer Gerald Standley. After Conti is found dead in Standley’s field, Piper must work to clear Gerald’s name and find out who relished killing Raffaele before the town is soured by another death.
