Lady Aramina wants nothing more than to exact revenge on the man responsible for assassinating her father. Since he is still out of reach, Mina finds herself drawn to his heir, Leo Barrons, a mysterious enigma that both infuriates her as well as ignites her with passion. When she learns that Leo may be illegitimate, she holds the power to destroy her greatest enemy. However, now that she has the upper hand, does she want to hurt Leo for something he has not done?
Bec McMaster's London Steampunk series has been consistently strong. Each installment makes tremendous leaps in its politics and worldbuilding as well as delivering fiery passion with its romance. OF SILK AND STEAM is no exception to that. In fact, McMaster may have up the ante a little bit with this installment, creating mysterious and intrigue with this world she has built. Not only does McMaster possess immense writing talent, but she builds each book so well on each other, paying particular attention to detail and the romance.
While the worldbuilding is exceptionally well done in this series, for me my favorite part has to be the romance. Mina and Leo just sizzle together. Their sexual tension is unbelievably scorching and paired with that forbidden lovers trope, it really makes for a romance fitting with its mysterious backdrop of London.
Whether you're into steampunk, historical or paranormal romance, Bec McMaster's novels will no doubt be a crowd pleaser.
