The year is 1070, in England, and Laila has lost so much. Defenceless, the Normans had stormed their home and murdered her father and brother-in-law, killing the serfs and setting anything they could alight. With her sister dying in her arms, Laila promises that she will do whatever is necessary to protect her little nephew. But when the new Norman Lord, Aymon, arrives to take over, Laila struggles to keep her cool.
Lord Aymon and his friend, Hugh, arrive to find his new home a burned out shell, devoid of livestock and people. Half brother to the King, Aymon knows how cruel and destructive he can be. Upon meeting Laila, Aymon declares that they will be married straight away. Attracted to her, he wants to provide her with his protection. Angry and feisty as ever, Laila soon realises that at least her nephew will be safe, and the marriage goes ahead.
As Aymon and Laila start to learn about each other, Laila soon realises that her Norman husband is not the cruel and heartless monster, that she thought he was. Always caring and genuinely wanting a relationship with Laila, friendship soon explodes into lust and possibly, love. But when an old enemy of Aymon's arrives, their very lives become endangered, for Lord Aymon has a secret that could destroy them all. With bitter enemies, harsh judgements, and many seeking revenge, will Laila and Aymon ever find a way to be together?
I love, love, love, OF LOVE AND VENGEANCE by Louise Lyndon. The storyline is captivating, fast-paced and exciting, with plenty of passion to keep you warm at night. Laila is smart, resourceful, protective and able to admit when she has made a mistake, and I really connected with her. Aymon is everything a hero should be - sexy, caring, brave and honourable, and I desperately wanted him to find the love that he deserved. With plenty of action, danger, and misunderstandings, OF LOVE AND VENGEANCE by Louise Lyndon had me completely hooked from the first sentence. An enthralling read!
