Fresh Fiction Review

The Bane Chronicles

Young Adult

In this collection of eleven short stories, Cassandra Clare returns to the Mortal Instruments world to revisit one of my favorite characters in the series, Magnus Bane. As a warlock who has the world's most fiery personality, you know you're getting a book packed with hilarious antics and thrilling action scenes. Magnus Bane certainly jumps from the pages of the book! Clare has penned these stories with the help of several other authors including Sarah Rees Brennan and Mauren Johnson. I have read Brennan's YA series before so to see the authors working together on an already established world was interesting to see. Within the eleven stories, there are also beautiful illustrations from Cassandra Jean that turns this from a basic book to a hot collector's item for loyal fans. THE BANE CHRONICLES reveals more about Bane's past with some key appearances by some of my other favorite characters in the series. This book is definitely worth the read if you're a fan of Clare's Mortal Instruments or Infernal Devices series.
