Authors Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl come together again in this spin off series, Dangerous Creatures. When talking about why they wrote DANGEROUS CREATURES, Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl mentioned that the series was like a gift to their loyal fans. A reward for their loyalty and support through all of the Beautiful Creatures books and feature film. Since fans were always curious to know more about Siren, Ridley Duchennes, and her hybrid Incubus boyfriend, Wesley "Link" Lincoln, they decided to write a new series from their point of view.

After convincing his mother that he is off to a Christian College in New York, Link and Ridley load the Beater and hit the road. Link is fulfilling his lifelong dream of hitting it big with his music. Ridley is along for the ride, but not the reasons that she is telling Link.

Ridley owes Lennox Gates a drummer as one of two markers he won from Ridley in a game. However, Ridley's lies begin to unravel as a Darkness from their past is set on seeking revenge again both Ridley and Link.

DANGEROUS CREATURES also gives readers a glimpse into bits and pieces of Ridley's past. We travel back to her childhood, that helps readers understand Ridley and how her personality lead her down the path of becoming a Dark Caster. It also reveals a bit more about her true feelings towards those around her.

Although this series could be read without having previously read the Beautiful Creatures series, I would recommend reading them first. The Caster world Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have built with the Beautiful Creatures series is complex. There is enough information to follow along, but I do not feel a new reader to the Caster World will have the full background knowledge established in the Beautiful Creatures series to get the full impact going into Dangerous Creatures. I really enjoyed DANGEROUS CREATURES. Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl created a unique and magical world within the Beautiful Creatures series and Dangerous Creatures DANGEROUS CREATURES is no different. This is an amazing start to a spin off series that is surely to be just as great as the Beautiful Creatures series.
