Merlot St. Pierre is an extremely talented young jewelry
designer in her junior year of college. At an awards
ceremony celebrating her win of the prestigious Purchase
Prize, she overhears her college classmates describing her
art as a hobby, saying she would never become a real
jeweler because she would always have daddy's money to
fall
back on.
Her father is a very successful winemaker, owning
the largest estate in Napa Valley. Merlot (Merri) is
determined to make it on her own and stand on her own two
feet without the benefit of using her family name in her
designs.
Mark Newman is also a heir to a large and successful
family
business, Harrington's Jewelers. He has worked his way up
the corporate ladder and is now one of the lead purchasing
agents for the business. While visiting the college to
scope out new talent for their stores, he falls in love
with the piece that Merri won the Purchase Prize design
award. He tried desperately to find out who made the
piece
but the college would not divulge the identity of the
student. It takes him three months of searching before he
finds her identity and he is determined to carry her
designs in his new line. Will he be able to convince her
to allow him to carry the line and divulge her identity?
Will she see that using her family name is not cheating to
get ahead?
A TASTE OF MERLOT is a fun, fast read. I enjoyed learning
about the jewelry manufacturing process and retail jewelry
sales. Watching Merri mature both personally and
professionally was a joy. I felt as if I were cheering
for
her from the beginning of the story to the very end.
Mark is an intelligent business man and I was wishing for
his success in the new spring jewelry line. I wanted for
him to prove to his aunt that he had the will and talent
to
make the business successful.
I enjoyed watching Merri and
Mark's personal journey as well, learning to trust one
another and then falling in love.
TASTE OF MERLOT is the second book in the Napa Wine
Heiresses series but it can easily be read as a stand-
alone. I am very much looking forward to reading the next
book in the series, A Taste of Sauvignon, set to release
in
April 2015 and picking up the first book in the series, A
Taste of Chardonnay, released in October 2014.
